Awning Accessories

A good awning is a solid investment, and the right accessories make a real difference to how well it performs and how long it lasts. Some are essential from day one (storm straps, a groundsheet); others are worth adding as you work out how you use your setup.

Storm straps pass over the roof of your caravan and anchor both sides of the awning to the ground, preventing the awning from lifting in high winds. They are essential for any awning left up overnight or for extended stays.

The Camptech Techline Secure Straps (£29.99) are designed to fit all Camptech awnings. Dorema also produces storm poles - vertical poles that brace the awning roof from underneath, preventing pooling of rainwater and adding rigidity. The Dorema Storm Pole (from £44) and Roof Support Pole (from £36) are the two most common types.

A breathable groundsheet protects the grass underneath your awning (important on seasonal pitches - many sites require them) and keeps the interior cleaner. The Dorema Starlon carpet (from £90) is a popular choice; it is breathable, quick-drying, and rolls up compactly for transport.

If you have chosen an air awning, a good pump makes setup significantly easier. Most air awnings come with a hand pump, but an electric pump saves time and effort - particularly with larger awnings that have multiple tubes.

The Dorema Cordless Electric Pump (£149) is a rechargeable, portable option that inflates most air awnings in a few minutes without needing a mains connection.

Dorema's SafeLock system secures the awning beading in the caravan's awning rail, preventing it from being pulled out.
