The 2026 Swift Challenger 480 is a popular single-axle 2 berth tourer with a classic layout: long parallel bench seats at the front, a central kitchen and a spacious end washroom. At 19'10" long with an MTPLM of 1,281 kg and 7'5" wide, it offers noticeably more interior room than the narrower models in the range. The wider body means a more comfortable living space for couples who plan extended trips or want extra elbow room.

The Challenger 480 uses Swift's SMART construction — a timber-less 'PURe' polyurethane frame with polystyrene insulation and GRP panels throughout. Sidewalls are 25mm thick, the roof 32mm, and the floor is a robust 44mm sandwich of GRP, plywood and Ravatherm core. This construction is inherently moisture-proof and meets EN1645 Grade 3 thermal insulation standards. The caravan holds European Whole Vehicle Type Approval.

New for 2026 are refreshed exterior graphics, updated front panel detailing and 15" half diamond cut alloy wheels. A 120W roof-mounted solar panel is fitted as standard. The AL-KO Vario X chassis is paired with an AKS 3004 stabiliser and ATC electronic stability control for confident towing.

Practical details include fully double-glazed tinted windows, a step-on hitch cover, fixing bars for an optional Thule rear cycle rack and an exterior access battery box with mains inlet.

With 1.95m (6'5") headroom, the interior feels open and airy. The 2026 scheme features Aquaclean 'Elephant' upholstery with Sangallo Elm and Toro/Grau woodgrain accents, over Grey French Oak scratch-resistant floor vinyl.

The long front bench seats convert to a generous double bed using a slat-on-track make-up system. New sprung seat bases and Tri-foam backrests improve comfort for both sitting and sleeping. Beech slat bases with sprung hinged tops give easy access to under-seat storage.

A highlight of the lounge is the new Dometic panoramic front sunroof with integrated curved blind system, recessed lighting and speakers. Midi-Heki and Mini-Heki rooflights with flyscreens and concertina blinds are fitted throughout.

The central kitchen is equipped with a Thetford thermostatic oven and grill, a three-burner gas hob with electric hotplate (all with electronic ignition) and a glass lid with auto gas shut-off. A flatbed microwave and a Thetford 142-litre tall fridge with 15-litre freezer compartment provide generous food storage — a step up from the under-counter fridges in smaller Challenger models.

The stainless steel sink comes with a washing-up bowl and removable extension drainer. A new pull-out wire basket in the kitchen cupboard is added for 2026, along with smooth-action cutlery drawers and a chrome crockery rack. An external BBQ point and mains outlet are provided.

The spacious end washroom is a key selling point of the 480 layout. It includes a boutique-style wash basin unit with cupboard and mirror, a chrome swivel-spout tap and a Thetford electric-flush toilet with 18-litre wheeled waste tank. The shower features an Ecocamel Jetstorm head for strong pressure with lower water usage, set against new 'White Stipple' marble-effect wallboard.

Overhead lockers with positive catches and chrome handles provide storage throughout. Upper front corner lockers add extra capacity, and seat bases use spaceframe construction with full front access for larger items. New phone storage pockets are included for 2026.

Heating comes from the new Truma CombiNeo — a combined unit delivering continuous hot water — controlled via a digital programmer and 4" LCD touchscreen. Blown air ducting distributes warmth to under-bed, under-seat and washroom areas.

The electrical setup includes a 25 amp switchmode charger/transformer and 25-metre hook-up cable. LED lighting is fitted throughout, with at least four 230V sockets and twin USB points distributed around the caravan. Entertainment is handled by an FM/DAB radio with USB and Bluetooth, plus a Status 570 directional TV/FM aerial and booster.
