The 2026 Swift Challenger 390 is a compact single-axle 2 berth caravan designed for couples or solo tourers who want a well-equipped tourer without the bulk. At 17'8" in length with an MTPLM of 1,118 kg and just 6'8" wide, it is manageable for a wide range of tow cars. The layout features parallel bench seats at the front, a rear kitchen and a corner washroom — a proven arrangement that makes efficient use of the space available.
Construction and Exterior
Swift's SMART construction uses a timber-less 'PURe' polyurethane frame with polystyrene insulation and GRP outer skins throughout — sidewalls (25mm), roof (32mm) and a robust 44mm sandwich floor. This approach is moisture-proof by design and meets EN1645 Grade 3 thermal insulation standards, confirmed through cold chamber testing. The caravan also holds European Whole Vehicle Type Approval.
For 2026, the Challenger gets refreshed exterior graphics, new front panel detailing and 15" half diamond cut alloy wheels. A 120W roof-mounted solar panel comes as standard, along with LED lighting all round — marker lights, awning light and rear light clusters. The AL-KO Vario X chassis underpins the 390, paired with an AKS 3004 stabiliser and ATC electronic stability control.
Other practical exterior touches include a step-on hitch cover, fixing bars for an optional Thule rear cycle rack, fully double-glazed tinted windows and an exterior access battery box with mains inlet.
Living and Sleeping
Headroom is a generous 1.95m (6'5"). The 2026 interior features the new Aquaclean 'Elephant' soft furnishing scheme with Sangallo Elm and Toro/Grau woodgrain accents, set against Grey French Oak scratch-resistant floor vinyl.
New for this year are sprung seat bases paired with Tri-foam backrests, designed to improve both seating and sleeping comfort. Beech slat bases with sprung hinged tops provide easy access to under-seat storage. Fixed beds benefit from the Duvalay Duvalite Strato mattress, which combines a platinum support layer and reflex foam with memory fibre for better airflow.
The front lounge is topped by a new Dometic panoramic sunroof with an integrated curved blind system, recessed lighting and speakers — a real highlight of the living space. Midi-Heki and Mini-Heki rooflights with flyscreens feature throughout, and all windows have blinds and flyscreens fitted.
Kitchen
The rear kitchen is well specified with a Thetford thermostatic oven and grill, a three-burner gas hob with electric hotplate (all with electronic ignition) and a glass lid with auto gas shut-off. A flatbed microwave and Dometic Series 10 83-litre under-counter fridge complete the cooking appliances.
Worktop space is supplemented by a foldaway extension, and the stainless steel sink comes with a washing-up bowl and removable extension drainer. New for 2026 is a pull-out wire basket in the kitchen cupboard. An external BBQ point and mains outlet are provided for outdoor cooking.
Washroom
The corner washroom includes a boutique-style wash basin unit with cupboard and mirror, a chrome swivel-spout tap and a Thetford electric-flush toilet with an 18-litre wheeled waste tank. The shower uses an Ecocamel Jetstorm head — designed to deliver strong pressure while using less water — set against new 'White Stipple' marble-effect wallboard.
Storage
Overhead lockers with positive catches and chrome handles run throughout, with upper front corner lockers providing additional space. Seat bases use spaceframe construction with full front access, suitable for storing larger items. New phone storage pockets have been added for 2026.
Heating, Electrics and Entertainment
The Challenger 390 is heated by the new Truma CombiNeo — a combined heater that delivers continuous hot water — controlled via a digital programmable controller and a 4" LCD colour touchscreen panel. Blown air ducting warms under-bed, under-seat and washroom areas.
The electrical system runs through a 25 amp switchmode charger/transformer with a 25-metre hook-up cable. LED lighting is fitted throughout, including lounge downlights and over-locker lighting. At least four 230V sockets and twin USB points are distributed around the caravan, with additional USB points under the front locker.
Entertainment is covered by an FM/DAB radio with USB, Bluetooth and auxiliary input, plus a Status 570 directional TV/FM aerial and booster with a dedicated TV point.
