2026 Swift Basecamp 2

The 2026 Swift Basecamp 2 is a compact, lightweight crossover caravan at just 7'6" wide. Designed as a spacious two-berth, it features convertible front seating, a nearside kitchen and a corner washroom. Built using Swift's SMART construction with GRP body panels and a timber-free polyurethane frame, the Basecamp is rated EN1645 Grade 3 for heating and thermal insulation, making it suitable for year-round touring.

The bodyshell uses Swift's SMART construction: a moisture-proof 'PURe' polyurethane timber-less frame with polystyrene insulation core and GRP outer skins (25mm sidewalls, 32mm roof). The floor is a 44mm sandwich construction with a GRP outer skin, ply upper surface and high-rigidity Ravatherm core. The roof is fully bonded exterior GRP for added strength.

The aerodynamic profile is finished with a sweeping GRP front panel, a stylish GRP rear roof spoiler and graphite lower mouldings, all in a striking blue graphics scheme. Lighting includes exclusive LED rear light clusters, LED high-level marker and brake lights, and LED side marker running lights.

The caravan sits on 17-inch half diamond-cut Edge alloy wheels with shock absorbers for smoother towing. A steel spare wheel is stored in the gas locker. The AL-KO galvanised steel chassis with Euro-axle carries a high chassis rating for increased user payload.

With 1.95m (6'5") headroom, the interior uses the 'Ocean' soft furnishing scheme with 'Oxford Tweed' woodgrain and contrasting furniture finishes. The floor is a grey French Oak effect scratch-resistant lino. Front seating uses aluminium seat bases with curved beech slats for comfort and ventilation. A panoramic front opening window brings in natural light, and multi-directional rooflights serve the kitchen and washroom. Cassette pleated flyscreens and blinds are fitted to all windows.

Cooking is handled by a Duplex Thetford thermostatic oven and grill with a three-burner gas hob, all with electronic ignition. The Dometic Series 10 under-counter fridge offers 83 litres of capacity with a removable freezer compartment, black-effect finish and digital controls. Worktops are FENIX NTM, which is scratch-resistant, hygienic and easy to clean, paired with an underslung stainless steel sink and removable chopping board. A front lift-up coffee table provides dining space, and a cutlery drawer runs on smooth-action steel runners.

The corner washroom features an Ecocamel Jetstorm showerhead with an on/off button for water-saving performance, finished with the new 'White Stipple' wallboard. The Thetford toilet has an electric flush and an 18-litre wheeled waste tank. A thick washroom door with a domestic-style lock and handle gives privacy.

Overhead lockers with positive catches keep belongings secure while travelling. Locker space includes removable canvas zipped storage bags. Soft-touch moulded wall pads with integrated storage pockets make use of otherwise unused space.

The dual-fuel under-floor Whale heater provides blown-air central heating, while a Whale dual-fuel rapid water heater supplies hot water. The system is controlled via the Swift Command 7-inch LCD colour touchscreen, which also monitors battery levels, solar panel charging, power usage, internal and external temperature, and humidity. The Swift Command app connects via Bluetooth for on-site control, with a remote feature for monitoring when away from the vehicle (subject to Wi-Fi or GSM coverage).

Electrical provision includes a 25-amp switch-mode charger/transformer, four 230V sockets (three in a sink pop-up docking station), and low-energy LED lighting with adjustable spotlights and USB points. A 120W streamlined solar panel and 25-metre mains hook-up cable are fitted. Entertainment comes from an integrated DAB and FM radio with Bluetooth, plus a Status 570 directional aerial and booster.
