Trailer tents from Netherlands
About Alpenkreuzer
Alpenkreuzer is a Dutch trailer tent brand with over 65 years of heritage — founded in 1958, the name became synonymous with tent trailers in the Netherlands. At its peak, approximately 4,000 units were sold per year in the Dutch market alone. After a period of dormancy, the brand was revived by Sunshine Group B.V. (also owners of Dorema awnings and De Waard cotton tents) and relaunched in 2017 with three modern models.
All Alpenkreuzer models use premium TenCate 100% cotton canvas (300 g/m²) — naturally breathable and reducing condensation — on braked AL-KO chassis with 13-inch wheels and hydraulic shock absorbers. The proprietary E2S (Easy-to-Store) system provides access to over 1,000 litres of storage without unfolding the tent. The OpenAir features an innovative Hybrid-AIR inflatable frame (no poles), while the Campfire offers two full double beds plus an underbed children's pod sleeping 5–6.
Black Country Caravans is one of the few UK dealers to carry the Alpenkreuzer brand. Our ex-showroom models are in as-new condition and represent significant savings over original retail pricing.

Construction & materials
How Alpenkreuzer trailer tents are built
All Alpenkreuzer models share a common platform: braked AL-KO chassis with AL-KO hitch, 13-inch steel rims, hydraulic shock absorbers, four extra-strong corner steadies, and a spare wheel stored on the underside. The canvas is TenCate 100% cotton at 300 g/m² — a premium Dutch fabric that breathes naturally and reduces condensation compared to polyester alternatives.
The OpenAir uses a unique Hybrid-AIR/Aluminium inflatable frame — pumped up with a hand pump (or optional electric pump) — combining inflatable beams with aluminium structural elements. No traditional poles needed. The Campfire and Waterfront use galvanised 28mm steel poles with mounting clips. The Campfire's front tent auto-expands when the trailer is opened. All models include the E2S system, allowing the tarpaulin to be raised approximately 25cm for storage access without full setup.
