About Bailey of Bristol
Bailey of Bristol is the UK's longest-established leisure vehicle manufacturer, tracing its origins to 1947 when Martin Bailey built his first caravan — the 'Maestro' — in his South Bristol garage and sold it at Ashton Gate market for £200. The company was formally established as F.G. Bailey Ltd in 1948. In 1977, it was purchased by the Howard family, who retain ownership today under Managing Director Nick Howard.
Bailey manufactures all its caravans at South Liberty Lane, South Bristol, with a large panel laminating plant in Clevedon, North Somerset. The company employs approximately 500 staff, produces around 6,000 vehicles annually, and generates group turnover exceeding £145 million. In 2024, Bailey invested £2.5 million in five HOMAG CNC machines and automated storage systems.

Alu-Tech Construction
The technology behind every Bailey caravan
Introduced in 2009 and protected by five global patents, Bailey's Alu-Tech system uses an interlocking aluminium extrusion external framework that clamps body panels together. This approach reduces external joints and fixing points by 90% compared to traditional construction, dramatically cutting water ingress risk. The upper bodyshell is timber-free, using a composite plastic internal skeleton with polystyrene insulation and GRP inner and outer skins. Over 80,000 Bailey leisure vehicles have been built using Alu-Tech.
