The 2026 Swift Challenger Grande 580 takes the popular 580 island-bed layout and stretches it to 8'1" wide — the widest body in the Challenger range. At 24'9" long with an MTPLM of 1,600 kg, this single-axle 4 berth tourer shares the same floorplan as the standard 580 (front lounge, central kitchen, transverse island bed and end washroom) but the extra width translates directly into more spacious living, a wider bed and roomier washroom. For couples who want the island bed layout with as much interior space as possible while staying on a single axle, the Grande is the logical choice.

The Grande 580 uses Swift's SMART construction — a timber-less 'PURe' polyurethane frame with polystyrene insulation and GRP panels. Sidewalls are 25mm, the roof 32mm and the floor a 44mm sandwich of GRP, plywood and Ravatherm core. The build is moisture-proof by design and meets EN1645 Grade 3 thermal insulation standards, with European Whole Vehicle Type Approval.

For 2026, the exterior gets refreshed graphics, new front panel detailing and 15" half diamond cut alloy wheels. A 120W roof-mounted solar panel is standard. The AL-KO Vario X chassis comes with an AKS 3004 stabiliser and ATC electronic stability control.

Practical exterior details include fully double-glazed tinted windows, a step-on hitch cover, Thule cycle rack fixing bars and an exterior access battery box with mains inlet.

With 1.95m (6'5") headroom and the wider 8'1" body, the interior feels noticeably more spacious than the standard-width models. The 2026 scheme features Aquaclean 'Elephant' upholstery with Sangallo Elm and Toro/Grau woodgrain accents, over Grey French Oak scratch-resistant floor vinyl.

The transverse island bed benefits from the Grande's extra width, making it easy to access from both sides with room to spare. It is fitted with a Duvalay Duvalite Strato mattress combining a platinum support layer, reflex foam and memory fibre. The front lounge seats convert to a second double using a slat-on-track system. New sprung seat bases and Tri-foam backrests improve comfort for both sitting and sleeping.

The lounge features a new Dometic panoramic front sunroof with integrated curved blind system, recessed lighting and speakers. Rooflights with flyscreens and concertina blinds are fitted throughout.

The central kitchen includes a Thetford thermostatic oven and grill, a three-burner gas hob with electric hotplate (electronic ignition throughout) and a glass lid with auto gas shut-off. A flatbed microwave and Thetford 142-litre tall fridge with 15-litre freezer compartment provide generous food storage.

The stainless steel sink comes with a washing-up bowl and removable extension drainer. A new pull-out wire basket in the kitchen cupboard is added for 2026. An external BBQ point and mains outlet are included.

The full end washroom benefits from the 8'1" width, providing a more spacious washing area than the standard 580. It includes a boutique-style wash basin unit with cupboard and mirror, a chrome swivel-spout tap and a Thetford electric-flush toilet with 18-litre wheeled waste tank. The Ecocamel Jetstorm showerhead delivers strong pressure while using less water, set against new 'White Stipple' marble-effect wallboard.

Overhead lockers with positive catches and chrome handles run throughout, with upper front corner lockers and shelved lockers adding capacity. Seat bases use spaceframe construction with full front access for larger items. New phone storage pockets are included for 2026.

The new Truma CombiNeo provides combined heating and continuous hot water, controlled via a digital programmer and 4" LCD touchscreen. Blown air ducting distributes warmth to under-bed, under-seat and washroom areas.

Electrics run through a 25 amp switchmode charger/transformer with a 25-metre hook-up cable. LED lighting is fitted throughout, with at least four 230V sockets and twin USB points around the caravan. An FM/DAB radio with USB and Bluetooth is included, along with a Status 570 directional TV/FM aerial and booster.
